Ivory paste: 5ml

An EpoxySeal dental sealer is a resin-based material used in endodontics (root canal treatment) to seal the canal space and ensure a tight seal between the root canal walls and the gutta-percha filling material. Its primary purpose is to prevent bacterial leakage and reinfection after the root canal procedure.

Features of EpoxySeal Dental Sealer:

1. Adhesive Properties: Provides excellent bonding with dentin and filling materials.

2. Dimensional Stability: Ensures a long-lasting, leak-proof seal.

3. Antimicrobial Activity: Some formulations include components that inhibit bacterial growth.

4. Radiopacity: Allows visibility in radiographs for confirmation of placement.

5. Biocompatibility: Safe for use in dental tissues when applied correctly.

Commonly Used EpoxySeal Dental Sealer:

1. AH Plus: A popular, epoxy-resin-based root canal sealer known for its excellent sealing ability, biocompatibility, and ease of use.

2. AH 26: Another epoxy-based sealer with good handling characteristics and antibacterial properties during the setting process.

Advantages:

  • Provides a hermetic seal.

  • Minimal shrinkage upon setting.

  • Long working time, allowing precise application.

  • Resistant to moisture after setting.

Application in Root Canal Therapy:

1. Preparation: After cleaning and shaping the root canal, the canal is dried using paper points.

2. Mixing: The epoxy sealer components are mixed as per the manufacturer's instructions.

3. Application: The sealer is applied to the canal walls using files, lentulo spirals, or other applicators.

4. Filling: Gutta-percha points are coated with the sealer and inserted into the canal to fill the space.

Dycal

Dycal
Rs. 3164/-

Dycal is a commonly used calcium hydroxide-based dental liner. It is primarily used in dentistry for the following purposes:

Uses of Dycal:

1. Pulp Protection:

Dycal is used to protect the pulp from thermal, mechanical, and chemical irritants during restorative procedures.

It creates a barrier to reduce the potential for irritation caused by restorative materials like amalgam or composites.

2. Pulp Capping:

It is used in direct pulp capping (when the pulp is exposed) or indirect pulp capping (when there is a near pulp exposure).

The calcium hydroxide in Dycal promotes the formation of secondary dentin by stimulating the pulp tissue.

3. Base or Liner:

It acts as a base under restorative materials and is compatible with most filling materials.

Composition:

  • Calcium hydroxide: The active ingredient that promotes healing and dentin formation.

  • Resin matrix: Provides easy handling and sets quickly after mixing.

Characteristics:

  • Radiopaque: It appears on X-rays, making it easy to identify during follow-ups.

  • Biocompatible: It is safe for use in proximity to pulp tissue.

  • Setting Time: Sets quickly in the presence of moisture.

Application Procedure:

1. Mix the base and catalyst paste in equal amounts until uniform.

2. Apply the mixture to the cavity using an applicator or a small brush.

3. Allow it to set before proceeding with other restorative materials.

If you're using Dycal or planning to, ensure it is applied under proper dental guidelines to maximise its effectiveness.
